As your wedding approaches, you tend to get a little crazy. Finances, last minute details, and all of that wedding stress. Unfortunately, this means a few things get pushed aside, or even forgotten completely. I’ve put together a list of a few must-remember items for your big day!
Wedding Tips
A Rain Plan:
So I don’t say this to burst any bubbles, but even the best laid plans go awry. No one can control Mother Nature, so it’s very important to ensure you have a backup plan if you are getting married outside. Some brides want to push this off throughout planning, as they don’t want to ‘jinx’ it, but it’s important to create alternate arrangements if a sneaky weather system rolls in.
Vendor Meals:
Another small thing that tends to get put on the bottom of the list is making sure your vendors are fed. When your venue is taking that final count a few weeks before the big day, make sure you are accounting for all those amazing people helping to make your day perfect. This means feeding (usually) your DJ or band, planner (and possibly an assistant,) photographer(s) and videographer. Make sure to put those meals on your final list so there aren’t any last minute surprises.
A ‘Wrangler:’
This one sounds a little funny, but it’s an important element on your big day. If you want to make sure that Great Aunt Susan or Uncle Larry are in some of your wedding pictures, I would recommend designating a ‘wrangler’ to help find family & friends for your group shots. Your photographer or planner won’t know who everyone is, so having someone that is familiar with the family would be the best recommendation.
Overnight Bag:
Another very important element to plan for is packing an overnight bag. Most times, the bride and groom will stay at a hotel after their big celebration. This means planning for it and ensuring that you have everything you need! Unless you want to leave the hotel the next day in your wedding dress, make sure you pack the essentials, including a day-after outfit. Ask a friend or family member to drop it off at the hotel on the morning-of to ensure it safely arrives and you know you can brush your teeth or comb your hair after the best party ever.
The License:
Yes, it may seem like a given, but you’d be surprised at how many forget this part of the wedding! Ensure you contact your local city hall and account for the timing requirements of application, and that you don’t forget to pack it. Sure, the marriage itself is the most important of your wedding, but sometimes the paperwork gets forgotten about. Make sure that you can really make it official on your big day.
