The Best Wedding Shower Games

The Best Wedding Shower Games

Do you want a great way to spruce up a farewell-to-single days celebration? Sure, good finger foods and some booze can liven up the occasion, but nothing can match wedding shower games when it comes to really giving the bride and her guests a grand time that they can treasure for years to come.

How to Choose the Best Wedding Shower Games

The most successful wedding showers are those that have included a mixture of old and new games. The wedding planner should ensure that there are games for both the young and old girls. Everything, of course, all boils down to the bride’s specifications.

And because we’d like you, the bride and the guests to have a really great time, we’ve done a thorough research and came up with our very own list of wedding shower games. We classified them under two headings – breaking the ice and when the ice melts. Here they are:

Breaking the Ice

What can be more daunting than a roomful of strangers? Sure, the guests are all there for the bride, but won’t it be more fun and exciting to enjoy the moment with old and newly found friends as well? Here are some of the best getting-to-know-you games that we can find:

The bride becomes the first “it” in this game. The participants will form a circle around her. They must ask and remember the names of the persons beside them. The bride goes around and points at somebody. When she says, “zip”, the person she is pointing to should say the name of the person on her right; “zap” is for the person on the left while “zoom” means change places. The first person who cannot recall the name of the person beside her becomes the next “it”.

The moderator or in this case, the wedding planner, gives a blank nametag to each guest. Each of them must write their names on their own nametags. They will be encouraged to call each other by their names. During game time, the moderator will ask the participants to count off from 1-5. Then, they will form small groups according to their numbers (all 1’s, all 2’s, etc.). Each member should try to remember the names and faces of all persons in the group. Then the moderator will ask the participants to remove their nametags. A representative from each group will be called onstage and asked to recite the names of all group members. The representative who correctly recalls the names of her group members wins.

Guests will be divided into four groups. They will form a line and pass an orange not with their hands but with their necks and chins. Hands must be placed at the back. The orange goes back to the first member if it drops. The first group to finish wins.

All participants will be divided into three or four groups. Once the moderator gives the go signal, the members will use anything they have (blazers, jackets, belts, shoelaces, shoes, accessories, etc.) to form a straight line. The group with the longest line wins.

When the Ice Melts

Okay, so everybody has an idea of who everybody is. The ice is melting so let the fun times flow with these games:

  1. Name that romantic movie quote

Search the net for the most popular and classic romantic movie quotes. Type them in a word document, print and photocopy. Hand them out to guests, give them pens and let them guess the answers. The guest with the most number of correct answers wins.

A wedding shower is the time when the bride opens most of her gifts, right? Put those gift wrappers to good use by designing a wedding dress or gown for the bride. Divide the guests into three or four groups, give them pieces of gift wrappers and let them “sew” away! Let the bride wear each design and take pictures of her in different poses. The best design wins.

Choose the most brilliant colors of lipstick that you can find. Ask guests to get partners. Blindfold them and give them lipsticks. Let them put lipstick on their partners. The pair with the neatest lipstick application wins.

This is the sexy version of the scavenger hunt. Before the wedding shower, place sexy objects in the room. Examples are women’s lingerie, men’s brief, scented candles – the naughtier, the better. The participant who gets the most number of items wins.

This game can be played by all the guests. The moderator will give the emcee a list of things that the participants should give to the bride. Objects must be those which can be found easily inside a lady’s purse (lipstick, coins, mirror) or those worn by a woman (earrings, ring, necklace, shoe, belt, etc.).

Days before the shower, interview the groom about his personal favorites- color, food, places or gadgets. You can also ask him about their most memorable moments as a couple. During the game, put the bride in the hot seat. Ask her the same questions. The bride wins if she gets a lot of correct answers.

With these wedding shower games, you can be sure that no guest will be left out. Everybody will have a grand time celebrating the bride’s shower party.
